INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE
Lowe's India
FULL TIME
2020
How many rounds were there? Describe briefly.
The recruitment for this year was different. There were 3 rounds in total: 1) Hackathon 2) Technical Round 3) HR Round This was the first time Lowe's India was conducting Campus Hackathon. We were given 4 themes. We participated in a team of 3 and built a Product Finder and Store Navigation Android Application. We were among the top 10 teams among over 3000 submissions to get shortlisted for further rounds.
What questions were asked? Describe briefly.
The last round of the Hackathon was the presentation round where we worked on improving our solution under the guidance of our mentor Ramanan Natarajan sir and presented it. Although we did not win the Hackathon, we were called for interviews for FTE. Technical Interview: 1) I was asked to explain our Hackathon solution in detail along with the technologies and algorithms used. 2) Then, I was asked to explain the KMP algorithm along with time and space complexity. 3) Next question was about the difference between SQL and NoSQL databases. 4) Then, I was asked to explain the time and space complexity of a program. 5) I was then asked to explain the 4 pillars of Object-Oriented Programming. 6) One of the interviewers asked me to explain what happens when we type in a URL into a web browser. They asked me if I had any questions: 1) I asked them about their experience at Lowe's India till now. 2) I also asked about how freshers are assigned any role at the company and whether they are given any training before joining any team. The technical round lasted for about 45mins. I received a call for the HR interview an hour after the technical round. HR Interview: This round was amazing! It wasn't really an interview but an informal interaction that revolved around my resume. It started with some introductory questions about me. The interviewer asked me about each of the technical and non-technical projects that I had worked on till my pre-final year and learnings from each of them. There were many situational questions after that and more discussions based on them. The interview seemed to be greatly impressed by the way I had prepared my resume. I asked the interviewer some questions: 1) What is a usual day of a tech domain person at Lowe's India? 2) How is the cultural environment in the company (Are there any clubs inside the company!?)? 2) How has the pandemic affected Lowe's India? (The interviewer seemed to be impressed with this question and answered with great interest!) This round lasted for over an hour but it was fun xD! A few days later, we all got an e-mail about our selection. We were happy that we were the batch openers of our batch!
Any advice for future aspirants?
1) Don't just focus on studying DSA. Knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals is also necessary. 2) Do not restrict yourself to any specific domain, keep building things, and keep on participating in various hackathons. 3) Ask some sensible questions to the interviewers to show them that you're interested in the company. 3) Prepare a good resume. If possible, follow LaTex format.
